What a full service should cost

Prices vary by garage, but a standard oil-and-filter service on a common import shouldn't be wildly different from one reputable mechanic to the next. The bigger cost swings come from parts — genuine versus aftermarket — not labour.

If a quote comes back far higher than a couple of others you've asked, it's worth asking exactly what's being replaced and why, rather than assuming the higher number means better work.
